What needs to be included in our submissions?

Each submission should include artist biography, CV, artist statement, and images of the work you are submitting. Check out our home page for full submission details.

Is there a size restriction for submitted works? 

If you work in a large scale or are unsure if your work is too big, please feel free to email us dimensions and check in with us.  If your submission is chosen, we will try our best to accommodate your work within the space we have. 

What kind of work is being accepted to the Feminist Art Festival and is there a limit to how many works one can submit?

We are accepting submissions of all mediums, including, but not limited to painting, print, drawing, dance, theatre, film, comics, spoken word, textiles, photography, videography, performance, poetry, and music. You are welcome to submit up to two bodies of work in any format. Please ensure that when submitting work to the festival, you provide all the required documentation and information regarding your work. Incomplete submissions may not be eligible for consideration.

Is there a submission fee?

There is no fee to apply to the Feminist Art Festival. 

When is the submission deadline?

The submission deadline for the 2020 Feminist Art Festival is September 1st, 2019.  

Does the 2020 Feminist Art Festival accept international artists?

Yes, we are accepting work from international artists. Please note that as a volunteer grassroots organization, FAC is unable to cover any shipping costs or travel fees involved with any artwork submission. Artists should also ensure that their work is sufficiently packaged to avoid damage during shipping and that return costs are included with the work when mailed. 

Is FAC accepting proposals for work that has not yet been created, or can we only submit finished work? 

Yes, we are accepting proposals for artwork that has not yet been created, however, acceptance of your submission is not guaranteed. Depending on how many applications we receive, we may not be able to accept your proposal in favour of already completed submissions. Nonetheless, we encourage you to apply. Please ensure that your proposal is as detailed as possible and includes examples of current work, the intended purpose of the future project including dimensions, medium, and project finish date. 

When will I hear back from FAC about my submission?

Once you have submitted your work and all the necessary information, FAC will reach out to confirm that we have received your submission. We will be in touch again with final decisions by September 23rd, 2019. 

Does the 2020 Feminist Art Festival provide monetary travel assistance to artists or exhibition fees?

Unfortunately, FAC is unable to provide any funding or stipends at this time. However, we are able to supply letters of support for any artists grants or other assistance you might be applying for.
