Foundation and Early Growth

FAC began as the Feminist Art Conference in March 2013, featuring a multidisciplinary approach with keynote speaker Carol Mark and panels addressing body politics, gendered violence, Black exoticism, and fabric arts. The inaugural event attracted 90+ artists and established the foundation for what would become a thriving feminist art community.

The collective experienced rapid growth in 2014, with the second conference selling out within days and attracting over 350 attendees and 90 participating artists from five continents. This international reach demonstrated the global appetite for feminist art discourse and positioned FAC as a significant cultural force.

By 2015, FAC had established its multi-day format with the "Looking Forward, Looking Back" conference, featuring keynote speaker Olivia Chow and expanding to include workshops, affiliate events, and community partnerships. This year marked FAC's membership in The Feminist Art Project at Rutgers University, cementing its academic credibility
